| Feature | What OnePlus lists |
|---|---|
| Display | 6.78-inch flat display, 2772 ร 1272 pixels. Adaptive 1โ165Hz outside games; supported gaming modes can reach 185Hz. This does not promise 185fps in every game. |
| Processor and graphics | Sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme platform, named ็ฌฌๅ ญไปฃ้ช้พ8่ถ ็บง่ณๅฐ็ on the China page; 2nm, eight CPU cores and Adreno 850 graphics. Use the exact Chinese model reference when comparing sellers. |
| RAM | 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra. RAM is working memory; it is different from the space used for photos and apps. |
| Storage | 256GB, 512GB or 1TB UFS 4.1. Listed pairs are 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB. |
| Battery | 9,000mAh equivalent typical capacity, using two 4,500mAh cells; 8,780mAh equivalent rated capacity. These are capacity figures, not measured hours of use. |
| Wired charging | Up to 100W SUPERVOOC and 100W UFCS. The specification separately lists 55W PPS, 18W PD and 18W QC compatibility. A charger showing โ100Wโ does not automatically use the fastest supported protocol. |
| Wireless charging | Official store parameters list up to 50W wireless charging. The compatible wireless charging accessory is separate. |
| Rear cameras | 200MP main with optical stabilisation, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto with optical stabilisation. The telephoto provides 3ร optical zoom; 120ร is the separate digital-zoom maximum. |
| Selfie camera and video | 50MP front camera with autofocus; front video up to 4K/60fps. Rear modes include 8K/30fps and 4K/120fps under the listed mode conditions. |
| Software | China specification: ColorOS 17.0 based on Android. This source does not establish an OxygenOS version for the OnePlus 16. |
| Connections | Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB 3.2 Gen 1 over USB-C. Nano-SIM is listed; do not assume eSIM support from the older OnePlus 15. |
| Size and weight | 161.42 ร 76.67mm; thickness is 8.45โ8.55mm and weight about 217โ220g depending on finish. Add the case when judging comfort. |
| Protection | IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K are listed laboratory ratings. They are not a promise against every liquid accident or a reason to use the phone underwater. |
| China store price example | The selected 12GB/256GB standard package showed RMB 5,999, alongside a promotional displayed price of RMB 5,699. Promotion eligibility and checkout terms must be checked in the official store; neither is a US, UK, Canadian or Australian price. |
Is OnePlus 16 a good import choice?
| The short answer | Check the exact regional version, software, network bands and local service before comparing its price with a domestic phone. Match gaming claims to supported games and modes. A strong display or chip specification does not establish carrier support or warranty where you live. |

OnePlus 16: camera, gaming and import decisions
| Does 185Hz mean every game runs at 185fps? | No. The China specs list adaptive 1โ165Hz outside games and up to 185Hz in supported game modes. Check your game and its settings. |
|---|---|
| Which zoom number is a physical lens? | The 50MP zoom camera has 3ร optical zoom. The digital maximum is a different number. Compare original photos at the distance you actually use. |
| Will a generic 100W charger give the fastest charge? | Not always. The listed modes include 100W SUPERVOOC and UFCS, with separate PPS and PD limits. Match the charging system and cable, not just watts. |
| Can I treat this as an OxygenOS global model? | The China model listed here uses ColorOS 17.0. Check installed software, essential apps, carrier activation and repairs. Do not assume it uses the global modelโs software. |

| What to know | China model confirmed ยท Updated 15 October 2026. OnePlus has published the OnePlus 16 on its China website, with a full specification sheet and an official OPPO Store listing. The earlier version of this guide incorrectly called it unannounced. The details below refer to the China model; they do not establish official sales, software or warranty support in another country. |
|---|
Should you buy the OnePlus 16?
| What to know | Consider it when the exact China model works with your carrier, your essential apps work on its shipped software, and you have an acceptable return and repair route. The battery, high-refresh display and camera hardware give you real features to compare. They do not settle the purchase on their own. If you need dependable local support more than a particular specification, compare a phone officially sold and serviced where you live before importing. |

What the 185Hz screen means for games
| What to know | A screen refresh rate describes how often the display can update. Game frame rate describes how many new frames the game renders. They are different numbers. OnePlus lists up to 185Hz in supported gaming conditions and 1โ165Hz outside games. Before paying for that feature, check your actual game, available mode and the settings used in a retail test. A short menu animation cannot show whether a demanding game stays smooth after a long session. |
|---|---|
| In practice | For everyday use, compare small text, reflections, low-brightness comfort and touch response. Higher peak numbers do not tell you whether the screen suits your eyes in a dark room. If you mainly use messaging, maps and video, those ordinary tasks deserve as much attention as a gaming demonstration. |

200MP camera, 3ร zoom and useful photos
| What to know | The 200MP main camera, ultrawide and physical 3ร telephoto have different jobs. Use the main camera for ordinary scenes, the ultrawide when you need more of the scene in the frame, and the telephoto when moving closer is inconvenient. A megapixel count alone does not prove better faces, night photos or moving-subject results. Compare original photo samples at the distances and lighting you use. |
|---|---|
| In practice | Keep optical and digital zoom separate. The official 3ร optical figure describes the telephoto lens; the 120ร maximum involves digital processing. For video, check stabilisation, sound, heat and available storage at the chosen recording setting. The listed 8K or 4K mode is a capability, not evidence that long recordings stay cool or that every lens supports every option. |
Battery and charging without the confusing numbers
| What to know | The battery uses two cells. OnePlus expresses their typical energy as equivalent to 9,000mAh; adding that figure to another cell number would count the same battery twice. Runtime still depends on the display, signal, gaming and background activity. Look for independent mixed-use testing before treating the capacity as a promise of two or three days. |
|---|---|
| In practice | Match the charger protocol as well as wattage. The China sheet distinguishes SUPERVOOC, UFCS, PPS, PD and QC limits. A general laptop charger may use a slower supported mode even when its own maximum is high. The China package lists a charger and cable; verify what the actual seller includes. Wireless charging needs the appropriate accessory and can be affected by alignment, a case and temperature. |
ColorOS, apps and storage choices
| What to know | The published China model uses ColorOS 17.0. Do not buy on a sellerโs promise that it is the same as an officially supported OxygenOS phone in your country. Ask about languages, account services, notifications, banking apps, contactless payments and normal update delivery. A band list also does not prove carrier approval, Wi-Fi calling or every local network feature. |
|---|---|
| In practice | Choose storage from the photos, downloaded games and videos you actually keep. The official store says memory-card expansion is not supported. Keep a separate backup of important files. If the 512GB versions interest you, compare the 12GB and 16GB RAM configurations at the full checkout price; extra RAM is not extra photo storage. |
US, UK, Canada and Australia buying checks
| Market | Check before paying |
|---|---|
| United States | Confirm the exact model with your carrierโs compatibility process, activation requirements, supported calling features and the sellerโs return address. An unlocked claim alone is insufficient. |
| United Kingdom | Compare the full import checkout, tax treatment, delivery and repair arrangements with a locally supported alternative. Get the warranty provider and return postage terms in writing. |
| Canada | Obtain a Canadian-dollar total, applicable taxes and carrier confirmation. Check who handles a faulty handset and whether service requires sending it overseas. |
| Australia | Check network compatibility for the exact unit, the final Australian-dollar cost and local service arrangements. A China store page does not establish Australian retail support. |
| What to know | This guide has verified China product pages. It has not established an official OnePlus 16 retail offer in these four markets. Use that distinction when comparing the OnePlus 15 US guide or other current phones. Currency conversion alone cannot create a local selling price or warranty. |

Quick OnePlus 16 questions
| Is OnePlus 16 still unannounced? | No. OnePlus China has published specifications and links to an official store listing. The older wording on this page has been corrected. |
|---|---|
| Does it run OxygenOS? | The reviewed China specification lists ColorOS 17.0. A different regional software version is not confirmed by that page. |
| Does every game run at 185fps? | No. The display ceiling is conditional, and game support, settings, heat and power use affect the rendered frame rate. |
| Is there an official US price here? | No. The RMB example is from the China store. Do not treat it as a verified local offer elsewhere. |
Questions before you buy
| Question | Useful answer |
|---|---|
| Is the OnePlus 16 China model the same as a future global version? | The current cited specification is for China and lists ColorOS. It does not prove a global release, OxygenOS build or local carrier approval. Keep the sellerโs exact model and software region beside every quote before comparing it with OnePlus 15. |
| Does the 185Hz gaming claim apply to every app? | No. The specification ties the highest refresh mode to supported gaming conditions. Check the actual gameโs support and compare sustained frame rate, heat and input response. Screen capability alone does not promise every game renders at that rate. |
| Will any 100W USB-C charger give the fastest charge? | Match the charging protocol and suitable cable, not only wattage. The China specification lists separate SUPERVOOC, UFCS, PPS and PD capabilities. Ask which included adapter applies to the package you are buying before adding another charger. |
| Should I import OnePlus 16 for its larger battery? | First verify activation, local software needs, warranty and returns. Capacity does not replace a real-day runtime test. Compare the complete import cost and service route with a locally supported phone, especially when it will be your only device. |
